(what am I going to do this fall without the library?!)

Why can’t I remember anything these days? Or, I suppose, the more correct question is why I can’t remember anything at a time when it would be convenient to do something about the thing I’m remembering? You know, some time other than when I’m driving to work and it’s too late to do anything about it?

Last night I started on my crocheted/felted tote bag project, but I’m not sure about it. I’m going to post a picture/question to the craft community later, I think. I did also finish my bright, obnoxious scarf. Yay! So even though I’ve bought two skeins of yarn this week, I’m still down two on the whole. I also started another scarf, so I’m back to having two on needles. Yay! Horsey still needs to be finished, though.

I also decided to yank out one of the blankets I started ages ago (I really don’t like the stitch) and to use that yarn and others to crochet an afghan in panels. Mr. Smeddley has a big afghan that’s sort of like that (I don’t know if it was done with multiple skeins at once or done in panels and sewn together, and I don’t know if I’ll do that or not). So I’m going to choose 4-5 interesting stitches and just go from there, maybe. Maybe. And I was thinking about using a bunch of the yarn I got at a garage sale to crochet a little rug, like for in front of the sink. There’s a pattern for one that uses white throughout and has color blocks, though the instructions say it’s to be crocheted in panels and sewn together, I figure I’ll do it all at once. Maybe I could kill two birds with one stone and make it a Tetris rug! The only problem with that is what if I run out of a particular color partway through a piece? Hmmm. We’ll see. I also have to knit some potholders to felt. And I do have a bunch of little prijects (pincushions, etc) to try. Man, if I ever did all that I’d be out of yarn in no time! Time to start hitting garage sales again…. <.< >.>

In serious news stop reading if you don’t want serious news! )

(insert 'I need a long straight one' joke here)

Okay, so I have my 'pattern' for my tetris blanket. It's a slightly modified (to make it wider so the dimensions are better for a blanket) screenshot. None of this 'all the pieces fit together perfectly' nonsense, since you never, ever see a screen like that - they disappear when you make a full row! I even have a falling piece. :D So, now that I have the pattern I want, the question becomes... how do I make it? I think I decided on crochet, since knit blankets tend to curl and I don't want that (unless you do a ribbed knit, I guess). Plus I can make it poofier as a crocheted blanket.

Okay, so crochet. I think I'll just SC throughout, make it easy. And a big hook with two strands, to make it faster (maybe). But now... now the dilemma. Because I really, really, really want to do the black outlines around each of the blocks. (As it really is, see? But, okay, I'll do without the nifty new-fangled shading.) So, here's the question...

Do I crochet it without the black outlines and then stitch them in later (somehow)?

Do I crochet the blocks individually and then crochet them together with black yarn?

Do I have 29 strands of yarn going at once (or, really, 58, if I do the double strands) and crochet it as a continuous piece? (15 blocks and a single black stitch between them, the outside would be done later)

Oh, the decisions! I think I'll crochet up a few test pieces to see how it will look - see if I can get either the crocheting together or the embroidering afterwards to look right.

Or I could just take the easy route and make it a quilt... :D

I kept telling myself - renew your paid account before it expires. RENEW IT! And I... kept forgetting. (I told you I had a mind like a steel sieve!) Suddenly I got the message - I WAS BASIC.

D:

Fortunately, even though it had lapsed, when I renewed all of my old 'loyalty userpics' came back. Because I couldn't have managed only 30 icons. But 46? That I can make due with. And that means an extra $10 this year to spend on... well, whatever. (We did just buy Raving Rabbids and Acme Arsenal for the xBox).

Funny story. My friend called to say that the Wal-Mart by her had Wiis. So... we went to see if we could get one. Because, face it, we could use WiiFit. But they were sold out by the time we got there.

So we bought ice cream on the way home.

I want a game called WiiFat. There will be ice-cream eating races (whoever can get the most down without succumbing to an ice cream headache wins!), potato chip challenges, pixie-stick and jelly bean competitions, chugging beer for the ultimate belly, and the like.
