Put your music player on shuffle. Post the first line of the first 15 songs that play, no matter how embarassing*. Strike out songs when someone guesses the artist and track correctly. Google is CHEATING! Cheating gives you hiccups, don't do it.

1. Oh Thunderhead, you're a man with a problem - Thunderhead, WASP, guessed by Valonia
2. Here we go, vertigo - Test for Echo, Rush, guessed by Valonia
3. I heard there was a secret chord - Hallelujah, Leonard Cohen, guessed by Clare-dragonfly and Cazrolime
4. It's easy to fall in love
5. Why try? I know why
6. Oh this is America, the place to find a home
7. In the time we spent together
8. You and I, we are strangers by one chromosome
9. Somewhere in the distance, I hear the bells ring - Too Late for Love, Def Leppard, guessed by Valonia
10. I never thought I would get to know ya
11. Hit my snooze alarm for the twenty seventh time
12. I don't know just where I'm going, I don't know, it's been so long
13. Jessie is a friend - Jessie's Girl, Rick Springfield, guessed by Dancingleaf and Merencara
14. There's a sinister game the children play - Laughing in the Hiding Bush, Bruce Dickenson, guessed by Valonia
15. Out on the border line, somewhere between heart and mind

* I did have to skip over 10 instrumental songs and 2 songs not in English, but other than that, these are what played randomly.

# 13 Rick Springfield? Jessie's Girl?

mine would be likely be nearly all instrumental or foreign language.

13 is Jessie's Girl by Rick Springfield :D

Yes! Oh, cheesy 80s music, I will never get tired of you...

1. W.A.S.P. - Thunderhead
2. Rush - Test for Echo
9. Def Leppard - Too Late for Love
14. Bruce Dickinson - Laughing in the Hiding Bush

Are any of those right? I'm a bit rubbish at this meme but I love it!

I skipped the plain song when I did the meme... and the Gaelic folk songs.

You are 4 for 4! There are two other Rush songs there, though! :D

What, you didn't think we could guess Gaelic folk songs? ;)

(also, I heart you a little more for getting W.A.S.P. and not judging me on it... I WILL get you the Who scarf I owe you before next winter, I promise! And the TG icons, to lure you back from Supernatural...)

I thought I recognised another Rush song but I didn't want to monopolise the guessing *cough*

Er, I couldn't type the Gaelic even if I wanted to. I was tempted to do the plain song though...

(Hahaha, hey, I knew the W.A.S.P. answer - that puts me in no position to judge you for it! I have a secret love of mullet metal and when I say 'secret' I mean I'll tell anyone who will listen... Yay! Scarf! Yay! Oh, and icons yes, gimme icons before I fall further into SPN. Actually, a friend is making me a new layout - TG/SPN crossover - how weird will that look?)

Wow, jeez, I thought #3 was unguessed because no one had picked the right artist, not because no one had guessed it! It's "Hallelujah," by Leonard Cohen. Perhaps sung by Rufus Wainwright, or by one of the many other artists who has done that song, but Leonard Cohen and Rufus Wainwright are my official guesses.

I do own several versions, but this one was technically from the Shrek (or was it Shrek 2?) soundtrack, so it was Leonard Cohen (he's my favorite version, to be honest).

I was surprised it wasn't guessed faster, too!

But... it was Rufus Wainwright on the Shrek soundtrack. Maybe Shrek 2 had the Leonard Cohen version?
Thursday, May 12th, 2011 12:26 am (UTC)
Yes, I got those completely backwards! I meant Wainwright. Except, apparently, the internet tells me it was actually John Cale who sang it in the movie, thought on the CD its Wainwright?

I don't know. I like the one from the Shrek soundtrack, I'll say, and leave it at that! :D

3 - Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley! Or by one of the people who've covered it.

This is awfully exciting. I usually only know songs that have already been guessed on these memes.

I will still give you joint credit, it wasn't crossed out yet! :D

Hoorah! You are a merciful deity. :D

I feel your pain - I rarely get any, probably because my tastes are odd, and I'm older than a lot of my online friends. Plus, living in different countries probably makes it tough - I doubt you've ever even heard of the band in # 10...
Thursday, May 12th, 2011 12:13 am (UTC)
I'm tempted to google them and see now, on the promise that it's to assuage my curiosity rather than to pretend I worked it out. I know I've heard a song about finding love out on the border line (or something similar-sounding) by a female singer but I can't for the life of me think who it was.
Thursday, May 12th, 2011 12:26 am (UTC)
You may Google, as long as you don't answer afterwards! By all means, assuage your curiosity!

The song about love on the borderline is a guy, though! :D
Thursday, May 12th, 2011 12:40 am (UTC)
My curiosity is assuaged! Your prediction that I wouldn't know the band was spot on. XD

I thought about it some more and realised I was thinking of pushing love over the borderline rather than finding it there. Google informs me that it's a Madonna song. And now that musical enlightenment has been achieved, I think it's time for bed. Goodnight to you!
