So Monday I went to work in the sleet, and took a probably humorous-looking but quite painful fall on the ice. I wasn't the only one, as the courtyard outside of work was better than an ice rink. I landed on my (thankfully quite squishy) rear end, though I did put my left hand out to try to break my fall and it's not happy with me (neither is my butt, but I'm not happy with it, either, so that seems fair).

Tuesday the weather held for the morning, but my back (and backside) hurt too much to go to work. They ended up letting everyone go at noon, just after the blizzard started. It snowed (with 40 mph winds) until about midnight.

And here's the thing - despite this being one of the worst storms to hit the area in years, not only with huge amounts of snow, but dangerously low temps and biting winds, somehow they expected us all to be at work in the morning. Maybe if I had a 4 wheel drive vehicle I could have made it, because my husband shoveled the driveway at 2 am. Yes, 2 am. It was either that or getting up at 5 to do it, I suppose. But even in his car (which is TONS better than mine in the snow) I got three houses down and got stuck. I was trying to go around a car that had gotten stuck and abandoned in the road. Of course they hadn't done anything to the road, and the snow was higher than the bumper in places, so... an hour and a half later we (and a neighbor) got the car back in the garage and I'm taking another vacation day. A rather wasted vacation day, since rescuing the car re-injured my wrist and I'm about useless.

So have some snowpocalypse or snowmagedon or whatever you want to call it pictures: and yes, the dog still made us take her for a walk during the blizzard... )
