So, to top off a thoroughly frustrating week, Window Media Player hates me. I know, the ideal solution would be to use something else to play my music, but this is my work computer, so no loading programs on it.
Here's what is happening, starting yesterday.
I copied a folder of MP3s to my hard drive, under my 'music' folder (which is the library of definition). Normally, when you do that and then open up WMP, the new songs show up. I've done it tons of times. This time, though, no dice.
I could play them by right-clicking on the folder and telling them to play in WMP, but it still wouldn't add them to my library. I tried adding the folder to the library under the 'manage libraries' command. Nothing worked.
Until, eventually, by repeating those actions a million times, closing and opening WMP a million times, they suddenly showed up.
It took twice as long and twice as much fiddling to get the second folder to appear.
It took three times as long (and even restarting the computer had no effect!) to get the third one to show up.
And now... now if I try to rename a song, or change an album genre, it changes it until I close the program. AND only on some songs. There is zero consitancy.
Also, I noticed yesterday that there was a 'remote library' under my 'other libraries', but I deleted that the minute it told me I was going to the internet for it, because that freaks me out on my work computer (you never know who's watching!).
Anyway, no idea what is going on with that, but it really irks me. It's just one of those tiny, niggling irritations. Anyone familiar with WMP who might be able to keep me from chucking the whole damn thing out the window?
Oh, also, I have a friend who uses WMP and every time she makes a playlist it makes another copy of the song - no idea why it is doing that, and I've never had it do that to me. :/ Although that might be where I picked up the gremlins...
