I’m somewhat glad to be back at work today. Sure, I didn’t want to get up, but at least I don’t have to face the basement today. We’ve decided that, since the earliest they could *possibly* fix the basement would be the 14-15 of June, with a more probable date the 28-29 of June, we deserved some time off. So. No dumpster this weekend! I’ll probably take a crack at restoring the power to the living room and hall, but other than that, the basement stairs should remain barricaded. And I’ll finally get to do something enjoyable!
I’ll probably do some reading, and hopefully some crafting. Which is just as well I didn’t break my finger, since it’d be hard to sew one-handed.
Oh, how did I almost manage that, you ask? Obviously, the run-in with the electricity overshadowed my other minor injuries (my arms look like I rolled through a briar patch and hit every sharp, pointy rock along the way). But, what happened was on Saturday, I was moving some gravel from the backyard to the dumpster. We’d scooped up a bunch of it from under the previously bricked area of the backyard and put it in 5-gallon buckets before we tilled for the grass seed. The less rock in the yard, the better, right?
So I was transporting the two buckets full of rock to the dumpster via the big garden cart thing we have (it looks like a big yellow wire mesh wagon). I was pulling it off the decking when it started to tip. I grabbed it the edge of it with my left hand (the right one still on the handle) and the buckets slid forward, trapping my hand between them and the side of the cart. It was the ridge-thingee around the top edge of the bucket that did the most damage. It pressed into the base of my middle finger, quite painfully I must say, and left a big red welt (that has since faded, and you can’t really see any bruising anymore). Now it’s just really, really sore if I press on it (yeah, I try not to do it, but it was agony pulling my gloves on and off on Saturday!)

...well, smoothly other than the cracked siding. And it's not *quite* done, so I guess you never know... :/

Considering all we've done, there really are relatively few problems. I'm just... accident prone.
