All of the drama in my life seems to center around Facebook. That is an instrument of the devil, I tell you. If it's not sucking our life away with pointless games, it's causing tension and arguments among friends and family. Long ago I minimized my dealings with Facebook, setting up a special list of people whose posts I see and only posting about the most mundane of things... mostly crafts. I do not talk about religion, or politics, or even, really, sports. And I try to comment on things even less, unless it's completely flippant. So how, you ask, could I stir up drama this time? I'm glad you asked.
My profile picture.
Most specifically, my profile picture is a picture a friend drew of me for a specific craft project, a necklace/pendant we wore for our Zombie Me bellydance duet. At the time (last October) I posted a picture of the pictures, gushed over her talent, showed people the necklaces I made, and got such a response that I made the one of me (she did one of each of us) my profile picture.
If you look at the comments on my album, it goes like this:
Friend who drew it: You look awesome!
Me: Only because SOMEONE made me more beautimous than I am!
Another friend: Wow, she really made it look like you!
Pretty clear I'm not claiming credit. However, these comments are on the ALBUM, not the photo. So.
Today I get a comment on the profile picture from a friend of said friend (who is a FB friend of mine) that says: "i wish [friend] was given the acknowledgement for doing this beautiful pice of work" [sic] - how do you get "acknowledgement" right and "piece" wrong? Then again, this is a person looking forward to spring "brake", so.
Anyway, friend who drew it texts me and is all like "Awkward, I did NOT want credit and I wasn't upset! Really!" I apologized and admitted it should have had the credit there, it was on the other photo, but I deleted all my photos in the great "I hate Facebook Timeline" purge. All was well.
Except it wasn't. Because I was a little pissed, since it could have been handled so much better. She could have sent me a message. She could have made a much less nasty comment. She could have said something in October, for heaven's sake! I admit there should have been credit on that picture, too (though before Timeline/new picture viewer I don't recall if it was as easy to put captions on profile pictures? Still, no excuse). I have no problem adding it. Which I did. And got another comment.
"about time"
Now, both of her comments I deleted because, hey, my Facebook and I have no reason to let you be a complete and utter bitch at me. And at this point, I'd like to say it was done and I took the moral high ground. Except... have you met me?
I reposted the original picture (of the two photos) that I had credited previously.
With a caption.
*ahem*

"It was very politely and kindly called to my attention today that my profile picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) lacks the proper attribution, as my original post of this picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones), in which I gushed about Cantaloupe Jones's artistic ability (both pictures are drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) was deleted in my FB Timeline purge. I would like everyone to know this was a gross oversight on my part, and while Cantaloupe Jones swears she doesn't need credit, I think it's important to note that this picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) was drawn by Cantaloupe Jones. It was, in fact, the positive comments received on this original post (of the pictures drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) that prompted me to make the picture of me (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) my profile picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones). I humbly beg forgiveness, and want to be sure it is very clear that these pictures (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) were, in fact, drawn by Cantaloupe Jones. I also think that this picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) really does showcase her talent as an artist, and I am honored to have been a subject of a picture drawn by Cantaloupe Jones! I apologize if anyone had the idea that this picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) or my derived profile picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) could possibly have been done by me, if you missed the original post in which I did credit Cantaloupe Jones or the times I raved about the necklaced made from the pictures (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones). I haven't the artistic talent of Cantaloupe Jones, who drew this picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones) and is a fabulous artist. Cantaloupe Jones is very kind at not being upset, though I think I some form of apology, and humbly leave it up to you, Facebook, to meet out fair justice for me not crediting Cantaloupe Jones for the picture (drawn by Cantaloupe Jones). Cantaloupe Jo- now, I do want to be clear that Cantaloupe Jones does not require any sort of recognition or repayment, but I think strawberry-champagne cheesecake on demand for life is probably the least I could do... other suggestions are welcome!"
Bonus internet cookies if you can tell me the significance of her name being repeated exactly 24 1/2 times.
