[Poll #1504724]

This came up after reading a press release about the upcoming production of 'Guys and Dolls' which had the line 'floating crap game'. I was assured this, while odd, was correct, but... I mean, the name of the game is 'craps' - why drop the 's'? I doesn't make sense, and, furthermore, without the 's' ir conjures up images of a game I'd rather not imagine. So tell me, dear internet, which is right?

Honestly, I have no idea! but I love playing craps. it's so exciting.

I've never played it - I'm too intimidated by the table! So much stuff on it, too many ways to bet!

You drop the 's' in maths, why not in craps? :p

There's no 's' in math! :p

I was trying to think up another game to use as an example, but I can't think of another one that ends in 's'.

A friend of mine who knows quite a bit about games states that "floating crap game", as a prhase, is correct.

I can believe it (language is funny, after all) but I really want to know why. Why drop the 's' when the proper name for the game is 'craps'? That'd be like talking about playing a 'baseba' game.
