Today was the Battle for Blood blood drive at work (it took me 13-1/2 minutes to bleed sufficiently, I'm so slow! Everyone else took 5-6 minutes.), so last night I whipped up a little blood drop squeezy. I used him today, and he works very well - his ergonomic shape makes him easy to hold on to, and you can stuff him to your desired firmness. It took me a few hours to make him, but I was trying to make up the pattern and had to rip out a lot of rows. I'd think even a novice crocheter could make one in under two hours, while watching television.

Size F Hook
Worsted Weight Yarn (I used Red Heart)

Row 1: SC 4 in magic Ring (or, ch 2 and sc 4 in second ch from hook). Join with sl st to first SC
Row 2: SC in each st, join
Row 3: *SC in first st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Row 4: *SC in first st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Row 5: *SC in first st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Row 6: SC in each st, join
Row 7: *SC in first two st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Row 8: SC in each st, join
Row 9: *SC in first two st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Row 10: SC in each st, join
Row 11: *SC in first st, 2 SC in next st* repeat from *, join
Rows 12-20: SC in each st, join
(about here you probably want to add the eyes – I used just those standard ‘plush toy’ eyes, but you could used yarn or buttons, as well.
Rows 21-23: *SC in first st, SC 2tog* repeat from *, join
(stuff-as-you-go decreases)
Row 24: SC 2tog
(cram as much stuffing as you can in, remember, he’s there to be squeezed so he needs to be fairly firm)
Fasten off.

Sorry if y'all have seen this a few places! Also, [livejournal.com profile] dynastic_queen, I found the pattern for the boob, I'll get that posted today or tomorrow - I need to decipher my scribbles)

I love you. It's totally fantastic that you made a squeezy blood drop for giving blood.

Did anyone comment on him?

Well, all they give you to squeeze are those chopped-in-half superballs wrapped in a paper towel, so... :D

A few people did, and I sent out an e-mail to our 'for sale' group with a picture and instructions, just in case. I'll turn those people into crafters one of these days!

Too cute. :P

Hey, quick question, do you, by any chance, know of a cute amiguri deer pattern? If I can't find any for free, I'm going to go with this one, but I would like to find one that is baby-safe. (http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=26973486)

I do! I don't know where I got it, but I obviously copied it from a webpage and saved it as a Word Doc. I e-mailed it to your last known (by me) e-mail address. :D

EDIT: errr, I just realized I sent a reindeer pattern, and if you were looking for a more realistic deer... I can look through my books later tonight - right now I'm off to a salsa class!

...also, I make that exact HTML goof all the time. I'm too used to ending italics.

And not only is he cute, I made something useful. That makes me really happy, which is why even though I hate (making) them I've made so many of those shopping bags...
