I always thought the time to cut my hair would come the first time I sat on it - if, indeed, my hair would ever get that long. Right now it's waist-length and the most annoying thing (other than the weight and the heat) is that it can (and does) occasionally fall into my food. Oh, and if I don't braid it at night, it's likely to be yanked out by someone 'accidentally'. *evil glare*

But now I might have found another reason to lop it off - crocheting.

Recently, while crocheting a potholder at a Royals game, I kept catching the ends of my hair and crocheting them in. Now, I've crocheted a lot of loose hair into my work (anyone who has something made by me almost certainly has a few hairs in there - yup, start making those voodoo dolls now!), but this is the first time I started to crochet in hair that was still attached to my head.

And yet I'm loathe to cut it, because it's the first time I've ever had hair this long and I'm getting used to the fact that I can feel it brushing against my back and against the back of my arms... I'm considering dying it darker again, though, because the sun has done a number on lightening it. Would definitely need two kits of dye...

Put it up when you're doing stuff it could get caught in! All your woes are solved! :-P

I try to remember to tie it back, but half the time I braid it I end up with that one chunk that's pulled too tightly, and it hurts! And I can't put it up in a bun or high ponytail anymore, it's just too heavy. :/

For the braids, try holding your head straight forward while you braid. I read that tip recently. That way the chunks are more even. And try buns that are balanced differently, like wrap buns!

I always pull my hair back when I eat. I do the same thing with my cross stitch sometimes, so I just make sure to pull it back or push it behind my ears. It's not that bad, really.

My hair is just so front-heavy - it's shorter than yours, though, too. So it doesn't stay back unless I do a pretty good job restraining it! If I tilt my head down, it slithers around my shoulders to annoy me... :/

You could start a new craft! Hair cross-stitching!
