11 discs.

12 hours, 52 minutes.

Maybe I'm better waiting until the book is available (I'm 13 on the holds list for it). Sure, I'd have to do nothing but read (unlike with an audiobook, where I can do other things at the same time, which may or may not be a good thing) but it'd be over faster. A lot faster.

Ooooh, it's starting. Ooooh, a Bible quote. Yippee. Ooooh, crappily written prologue, foreshadowing doom and gloom! Ooooohhh! *gag* *choke* A few paragraphs in, and I already hate Bella and the narrating style! This is going to be fun! O.o

THINK OF THE DUCKIES

I will try, I promise. But it might be tough - I just finished Chapter One, and I'm not optimistic about my chances overall...

See, I think listening to an audiotape takes away from your own interpretation a bit, I really do. Though, I didn't really get into Twilight until about midway through. Then I finished it and got the next two books the next day. They were a nice weekend read.

It does, I admit. The tone of the narrator can do a lot. But on the other hand, it's the only thing that keeps me from skimming. If I were reading it, my brain would make my eyes skip over a lot of the worst bits. Which might be a good thing, I realize, now that I've started...

Also, when approaching something that may be just a light, recreational read, it is a simpler pleasure to read it, versus the time commitment of the audiotape. It's easier to expect less and enjoy it more.

I completely know how you feel. I got stucked in after the first few chapters, long enough to read the second book. But that's as far as I made it. I hate Bella, her attitude, her dependancy, her angst. But I'm about the only one I know with that stance. Ah well.

But I'm about the only one I know with that stance.

Are you kidding me? Most of the (good bits of the) internet fucking hates that series.

Good to know.

Ok, so I didn't hate the book, but OMG, the first link there (shinga), is so goddamn funny, I can't stop reading and laughing outloud at work.

I hate Bella! And the writing! And... pretty much everything about it at this point.

Oh my god I AM Bella!

*slinks off dejectedly*

My sister read the first two books in one weekend (her computer was dead at the time) and the third shortly thereafter. Now she keeps bugging me to read them, but from what I've heard elsewhere, I don't really want to.

Don't do it. Really. It's bad.

And I even liked Harry Potter, and I think this is BAD.
