I need another vacation - and this time I'd totally get all that stuff I need to get done finished! All those home improvement projects... all the cleaning... and the reading and crafting... Yup, I'd completely catch up. AHAHAHAHAHA! Right.

So I finally got the oil changed in my car - it was a wee bit overdue. About 2,000 miles overdue. Or 5 months, whichever you go by. Which means, over the last 8 months I've averaged 618 miles per month. I really don't get out much, do I? But then, we do usually take the other car when we go out together on the weekends. It's roomier inside. And it gets better gas mileage. And it's not as close to the 100,000 'everything starts to fall apart' line everyone talks about. I really hope my poor car (as abused as it is!) can last another 4 years or so. 130,000 is not an unreasonable expectation, is it? On the up side, the guy said my air filter was like new! All clean and everything, which floors me, since the last time it could have been replaced was 8 months ago...

Speaking of oil changes, it seems it's taking them a lot longer than it used to. I thought it only took about 20 minutes, but even though I was the second person there (so no waiting in line) it was more like 40. Granted, that's still faster than most places and a lot quicker than I could do it, and I'm not really complaining, just noting. Though they had the news on in the waiting room and there's a reason I hate watching the news. I'm all lathered up now. But I won't bore you with my rants. Suffice to say people are really stupid and I'm tired of people expecting everyone else to take care of them and look out for them. Personally responsibility! The government is not your nanny.

In depressing news (I don't know if I mentioned it) the library is saying I didn't return something I'm saying I did. Of course it's not a $7 paperback, it's a $60 DVD set. *grump* I'm going to talk to them again today about it. I also need to call the service people because my lovely new stove is making a buzzing sound when I turn on the front right burning and they'd better fit it for free! Speaking of, I need to call them... SCHEDULED! Friday they're coming to fix it and as long as I can put my grubby little hands on my receipt it's free! :D So tonight I will be frantically scrabbling through paperwork. JOY! This also means we need to clean the kitchen again. :/

QUESTION OF THE DAY:
If you were heading into battle armed with only a vegetable, which vegetable would you chose and why?

I would take a carrot... have you seen the amount of damage a carrot can do? If not... watch Shoot 'em Up. And its Clive Owen, so PRETTY!

I will have to check that out!

Carrots are pointy... but maybe a bit too obvious a choice...

Either carrot or potato. They can both do a lot of damage if used right.

Potatoes are very stone-like, carrots are pointy. Two very different fighting styles! It's like the difference between fighting a group and fighting just one man...

130,000 shouldn't be unreasonable, as long as you keep the car well-maintained. My car is ten years old and almost up to 120,000 and still running. Not that everything hasn't fallen apart at one time or another, but... it's still running.

I hate watching the news, too. Especially since everyone expects me to go into journalism. Um, no, thanks.

I think I would choose a tomato, because the debate over whether it's a vegetable or a fruit would distract and confuse the enemy.
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 01:52 am (UTC)
Here's hoping! Though I probably should try to take better care of it...

Only if it were a smart enough enemy! However, if they weren't distracted you could hurl the tomato at their face and the goop would get in their eyes. (or right now you could feed them the tomatoes and they might come down with food poisoning and be incapacitated!)

It's nice to know my state's official vegetable has so very many uses in battle. I knew I picked right.

An onion! So I can make the boys cry! =D
Wednesday, June 11th, 2008 01:54 am (UTC)
And onions = layers = ogres! ;D

Good point, hard to fight with tears streaming down your face.

A frozen orange, applied correctly to a person's head, can kill.

I really like the potato idea, for long and short distances.

But prickly pear cactus (the pads are considered a vegetable)... now THAT would do some damage up close. Wear gloves!
