I'm the only person in the office who saw it, and I'm beginning to think it's because my mind is warped... or maybe people 'round these parts just haven't really heard it or think that way? (I totally scored above average on my Internet IQ test, by the way)

So here's the question. Does this personalized plate have more than one meaning to you? (Other than my initial equaling of 'oz' = ounces, which, surprisingly, seems to be not that uncommon!)

2HOT4OZ

(also, here's hoping HTML works through the e-mail posting!)

So, obviously, this chick thinks she's too hot to be stuck in the backwater that is Kansas. We've all probably heard of the Wizard of Oz, and Dorothy, and Toto, and trust me, if you live in Kansas you're sick of the jokes. But hard on the heels of that was another thought... Oz has come to mean (whether through a relation with the movie and Kansas in general, I know not)... prison. As in, the HBO series? So here's a chick with a license plate proclaiming her just too good for Kansas (at least, I'm pretty sure that's what she meant...) and my mind in conjuring up women's prison movies. *ahem*

But here's the kicker - no one I work with has ever heard of this. Some might 'oh, yeah!' when I mention the show, but certainly none of them think that initially. So maybe it is just me?

And maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe the license plate does read 'I'm too hot for four ounces'.

My mind went first for deciphering chemistry notation. Obviously, it didn't get very far. Next was the "ounces" reading, then the land of Oz, then the prison reference hot on it's heels.

YES! I'm so happy at least one other person gets the prison connection. *beams* You've made my day.

My mind followed the same track... well except the chemistry notation first, chemistry isn't usually my very first thought, though the other day we saw:

AUNZ4CY
=
Goldens for Cy (our local mascot)

But while I've never actually watched OZ, I am aware of it and it's general premise, so it did come to mind (followed then by thinking of Oz via were-teen of Buffydom).

Oh, why the cutsie 'z'? Why not a proper 's'? :(

I've never heard of the Buffy reference, so you're one up on me!
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 11:00 pm (UTC)
?? What do you mean you haven't heard of the Buffy reference... as in it didn't pop in your head, or as in you don't know who Oz is because you *gasp* never got into the Buffy series?

Nah, that's not what you could mean. not possible.

I've never watched more than the odd one or two episodes of Buffy. We do, however, own the entire series on DVD. :) So maybe some day. Not a huge Sarah Michelle Geller fan, though.

I'm not a fan of hers either, but OMG, it's so not all about her, despite the title. It's just so absolutely fabulous and wonderful and witty and interesting and fun, I don't know how anyone cannot LOVE it.

my mind worked along the exact same lines - checking for Chem, ounces, land of Oz and then the tv show Oz...
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 03:38 pm (UTC)
or Australia!
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 04:12 pm (UTC)
or the werewolf!
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:39 pm (UTC)
Well, there's another connection, since Australia was a penal colony... (I totally almost wrote 'penile' - but I was influenced by someone else's post!)

2HO T4 OZ

2 hookers working on the new Terminator movie heading to Aus?
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:39 pm (UTC)
That has to be it! Awesome.
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 05:02 pm (UTC)
It's an order for 2 small cups of tea.
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:40 pm (UTC)
Or, that would be about the size of an espresso shot - maybe she's a barista!

2 Ho T 4 oz

Two hookers traded for an ounce of cocane.
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:41 pm (UTC)
Or maybe that's the price for them? And the T stands for 'tango', which is a euphamism?

"Two hos 'tango' for an ounce"?

I first thought of Oz, then Australia, then ounces (because you said it, but it makes sense). I don't really understand the Kansas thing. Kansas =/= Oz. You go to Oz to get out of Kansas! And, well, I knew there was a TV show called Oz, but I knew nothing about it and certainly didn't know it was about prison.
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:43 pm (UTC)
I think Oz is like a magical 12th dimension in Kansas, so like a sub-space bubble it's technically in Kansas, only not. You know?
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 07:17 pm (UTC)
Sorry, my first and only thought was oz=kansas. :(
Wednesday, March 12th, 2008 10:43 pm (UTC)
Ah, well. You can't be perfect! ;)
