My paid LJ account runs out in about a week. The question is, do I renew it? I hate ads, and I don't want them on my journal, and I'm fine with paying for that except... I don't feel like I use the account much anymore. So is it worth it?
Well over half the people I've gotten to know on LJ are gone now, either in a deleted-account way or in a just-don't-post-anymore way. Some I still follow on Facebook or Twitter, others I've completely lost track of. There are still people there I do want to keep up with, and oh, the communities! Not, mind you, that I need more craft ideas, but... it is fun to see all the crafts.
Of course, there's Ravelry and Craftster and a dozen other craft blogs I have bookmarked... and nothing says I need a paid account to watch communities, though the lack of ads (especially browsing on my phone) is really nice.
I will probably renew it, it's only $25(?). Though if I do, I really should get back into blogging more. It's funny, when I started the whole blogging thing I had very little to talk about - maybe that's why I got so involved in fiction writing? Back then I lived in that townhouse without a craft room, and the only social thing I did was book club once a month. Now I do tons of things, and could talk about all sorts of stuff (yes, it would probably bore you, but between the house, belly dancing, and a renewed interest in crafting I could babble on forever!), but never seem to sit down and write.
I suppose it all comes down to why blog? People do it for a lot of different reasons, I'm just no longer sure what mine is. Kind of the story of my life, too many interests, too scattered and disorganized!
