So, you all know (or should know) my weird fascination with... well, weird food. Cookies with tomato soup, cookies with sauerkraut, bread made with pork'n'beans... there's pretty much nothing I won't try.
And therefore I was a little disappointed that The Gallery of Regrettable Food didn't have much in the way of recipes for the monstrosities it mocked. Because, really, the pictures are completely mock-worthy enough, believe me. And, yes, the aspics. Those are a scourge upon the earth, hopefully banished forever.
But there was one recipe, in the 'Cooking with 7-up' section. Now, the author mercilessly mocks cooking with the un-cola, which probably just means they are unaware of the current soda-baking craze. Seems everyone's into making cakes with nothing but a cake mix and a can of soda these days! And, yes, it works just fine, so long as you mix it well enough (under-mixing leads to crumbly cake - of course I tried it!).

Okay, not gorgeous, but not hideous, either. And, yes, I can see how the knee-jerk reaction might be 'cottage cheese on your pancakes? with fruit?' But really, IHOP serves quite similar crepes and a lot of people mix fruit and cottage cheese, so I thought, really, would it be that bad?
