I got a bill from the doctor telling me I owed them $186 for my office visit. Funny, I thought my health insurance covered that, other than the $20 copay (which I've already paid). Evidently, no. But yes. See, office visits are covered, but procedures are not. I damn well wouldn't have gone to see the doctor if I'd have known it was going to cost me that.
And before you say that I'm lucky to be able to pay it (even though I don't like it), lucky to have health insurance at, let me just say that I'm pretty sure that this was the only time this year I went to the doctor.
And I have to pay for the entire damn thing.
After paying $4,800 to the insurance company myself, plus however much my employer kicked in. That would have almost paid for my driveway!
So my doctor won't see me again unless I cough up my damn spleen, because god knows how much it'd cost me. Or maybe I'll just call the insurance company tomorrow morning and keep them on the phone as I run down a list of everything I might need to have done and get a quote on the cost, so I can decide if it's worth it. Help me out - what things might you have done in a doctor's office? I want a good, long list of possibilities.
(And sorry, I was going to catch up on my f-list commenting, but right now I just want to cry, scream, and/or break things, so it's probably not the best time - and I know a lot of you are having a rough time as well - doesn't December suck? - and I want you to know I'm thinking good thoughts for you at the same time I'm mentally sticking pins in a virtual Blue Cross/Blue Shield voodoo doll. Worst. Insurance. Ever.)
