Lovely weather today, I felt so guilty about leaving the dog this morning. She tried to run out in the garage with me as I was leaving. I don't know why, but she feels the cars (as long as they are in the garage, not driving around) are a perfectly lovely place to cower during a thunderstorm. It hasn't gotten as bad as they said it might - just rain and a little rumbling, but still. Poor thing was shaking and panting. I *almost* called in and took the day off. But I simply can't do that every time it storms, I'd be out of vacation! And she'll be okay, right? Her papa will be home to protect her for awhile in the afternoon, then I'll be home this evening. And I lowered... oh, bugger, only two of the toilet lids. I didn't do the lower level ones. Ah well, if he comes home to a puppy with a wet butt, he'll know what happened (toilets, bathtubs and sinks are also places she like to hide, don't ask me why).

In other news, I finished the book I'm with Stupid last night. It was good, funny, and had a lot of points that made you go, 'Oh yes, totally!' I'd recommend it, a great 'read a chapter before you go to sleep' kind of book, since it's not really fiction and therefore doesn't have one of those plots where you just have to get to the end - NOW.

Interestingly enough - or perhaps it comes as no surprise to those who know me - other than the ability to distinguish more than 12 colors, I really did agree more with the male perspective on things. Everything does have an appropriate sports metaphor! And sports are more important than shoes and fashion. Oh yeah!

I'm also glad it's baseball season, and not just because we whooped the Yankees again last night. Who-hoo first-place Royals! (Gotta gloat while I can, it won't last...) Baseball is great because there are 162 games in a year. No one game (until you get to the playoffs, and seriously, who sees that happening? Let's be realistic) is so tremendously important that it turns you into a quivering mass of goo - unlike the Orange Bowl and the NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. Both of which KU won! Go Jayhawks!

So in a year where the football program is out-of-the-blue amazingly good, and the always-reliable-but-not-fantastic basketball team wins the national championship, who says the Royals can't do well? It's a topsy-turvy world we're living in! Dogs and cats, living together... And, according to my Origami-A-Day calendar, it's April 2nd. Pffff. I really need to clean up and get organized. Tomorrow. Or April 3rd. Whichever comes... last. ;)

But I will be productive now, I at least have to start listening to my book on tape for the book club Monday. I don't usually do audio books for that, because I like to read them at the last moment and audio books take so long! It's hard to judge when I need to start them and all that. If I put it off too long, I'll get interrupted and not finish. If I do it to early, I'll forget things. Ah, well. I'm also going back through M.C. Beaton's Hamish Macbeth series and reading (listening to) them in order. Someone sent me an e-mail about my reviews on my web site, saying I might have disliked a particular book most because I was reading them out-of-order, and though they do stand alone you have a lot more context if you read them in the right order. So I'm going to, and I'll pick up the ones I missed this way, too. I've already had to get and inter-library loan for the third book, hopefully it won't take to long!
