So evidently they decided to move up our Time In Service (TIS) bonuses to once very four years instead of once every five years. So everyone who was going to get their TIS this year got it today. I was scheduled to get mine in November. Now, I don't know what this means down the road (will my next one be in Nov '11, Jan '12, or Nov '12?) but for now I shall revel in sweet, sweet unexpected money. Which should all go to the credit cards, I know. But I don't want an expensive computer, surely a few hundred can be spent on me! It's a three-paycheck month, too! (Since I get paid every two weeks and not twice a month)

Yeah, you should go ahead and buy yourself a new computer! I would!

Actually at this point I'd buy Colum a computer so he wouldn't have to use mine (his died a horrible death a month or so ago), but close enough!

I wish I had some magical surprise money...

Yeah, I just hate spending the money, but mine's been irritating me for awhile. I'm sure it could be fixed, but... I'm not good at that stuff.

Come work for the City for four years, and magical surprise money will be yours! Either that, or you'll end up committed. It's a toss-up, really.

I wish we'd get ours in the form of bonus money too, but oh well, free money is free money!! :D

Congrats! :)

I'd rather have a raise, because that builds upon itself. Sure, it's not as 'oooohhhh' as the big check, but without extra raises it's really hard to even beat inflation these days!
