First, he tried to get away but putting himself out of reach. Silly! The little switch on the wall took care of that (don't worry, I caught him and he was not injured).

Then he decided to run far away, but left me a message so I'd know he was okay. I tracked him down, but was only able to snap a quick picture before he skittered off!

It's a long story. Sort of. I recently held a contest (Snerfflebarglast) in which I challenged my f-list to all sorts of things (if you wade back through my entries you'll see it, it ended not long ago). The prizes were varied ([livejournal.com profile] snerffle_07) and included a crocheted octopus. Several people requested one, prompting me to crochet more.

My hubby is a real smart-ass, and has decided to continue to hide this one in various places around the house. Eventually he (the octopus, not my hubby) should make it to Australia. If I can track him down and hold onto him long enough to stuff him into a box...

very cool.
nothing like an octopus with wanderlust i say.

your husband sounds like my boyfriend dave.
we have been together for 12 years.
ten of them living together.
he thinks its funny to set me off and put my bearded dragons (australian lizards... maybe the octopus will meet one on his travels!) into remote control vehicles and chase the cats around.

ok... maybe your husband really isn't like dave after all.
hmmmmm....

hey, my shift is over in a half hour. gotta do the end of shift crapola.
it's been lovely chatting with ya!
hope to do it again!

Dave sounds like a character! :D I shall enjoy reading his exploits, I think.

Hubby and I have been married 10 years, together for 14. And remarkably, he's still alive! ;) I tell you, that man goes out of his way to annoy me.

YAY for end of shift! I'm occasionally a complete comment whore fairly chatty, so I'm sure we will.

men have that uncanny ability to annoy in the most precise of forms, no?

talk to you soon!

Looks like he already made it to Australia! Isn't he smoozing a koala in a eucalyptus tree right there?

ROFL!

(that octopus is cute as hell, by the way)

I swear, I can type without the typos.

requested one*

Well, you DID request a 'craft project' and while I could send you a cross-stitch kit, I could also send you the hook, yarn, fiberfill and instructions... :) Oh! And some eyes. I need to get more of the beady ones tomorrow... He's pretty easy to make, honest. Just time-consuming and a little finicky.

Also, since you wouldn't let anyone comment - I know what that's like, believe me. Hugs and all that good stuff!

Send me what you think would be best.

I'm actually working on your bear cross stitch you sent me right now. I'm finding it very soothing. Am considering turning it into a pillow when I'm done? Maybe. I know a couple of people with kids that it might make a good gift, I dunno.

I didn't want to look like I was looking for gushy sympathy. I just ... needed to write it down. Thanks, though, I really appreciate it. It's just very rough right now.

Hmmm, I'll think about that. :) Cross-stitch isn't really relaxing for me, because it's so slow! I'm an instant gratification person. The octopus takes... I dunno, 3 hours? It's not too bad. But some of those cross-stitch kits can take MONTHS! I have too short an attention span. :)

A pillow might be really cute! :)

I hope things get better. And I'm sure they will, especially after May...

I like the repetitive motion. Though I chose your bear b/c it's a lot simpler than the other one I have in the works. It's wicked hard, and I need space to spread out for it. I find this gives me enough gratificatinon--I like seeing how things start showing up after just a couple of colours.

I'll try it and see. Just put a backing on it, and then an actual back, and stuff it. Simple enough.

Thanks. Me too. God I hope so ...

It looks like that lemur is about to make love to your octopus. You'd better have a talk with him about the facts of life.
Monday, October 8th, 2007 09:43 am (UTC)
Haha, what's it going to be like when you have all the octopodes around? =o =o

He's adorable :D
