I took the opportunity of order Mr. Smeddley's birthday presents to treat myself a little. Okay, I almost ordered me as much stuff as him. What can I say, I'm weak.

Behold: the crayon pen of awesome:

Not only does it look good, it actually writes pretty well. Not that I was able to hold onto it for long, since it'd been on the UPS truck all day, in the cold! In other news: still snowing. Not looking forward to shoveling tomorrow morning.

Very cute. Simply shaped like a crayon, regular ink?

Btw, every time I see a piggy bank I think of you. Someday I'm going to buy you one.

Yup, and it's refillable, hopefully!

That's actually a piggy bank lamp - I have the COMPLETE lineup! ;) Pigs and ducks, go figure...

(Oh, I am going forward with the idea of making cross-stitch patterns of the Farmville animals, so if there's any animals you have that you want that aren't on my farm, send me a good screenshot (with the animal clear of other stuff) and I'll give it a go. If you want, I mean - I just know you like Farmville and Cross-Stitch, so...)

Oh, I do want :D I think I might have a few, but I'll have to doublecheck what you already have, and Farmville has been giving me dial up difficulties lately. I'll get them to you as son as I can!
Sunday, January 17th, 2010 11:14 pm (UTC)
I feel for you and your dial-up! I have enough problems with it and I have a cable modem!

No hurry, it'll take awhile to work through the ones I have. I was thinking making the chickens about 1 to 1-1/2 inches across on 22 count, and trying to keep the rest to scale within the game.

Yeah. When I'm off again, I'll get it to work. Of course, all my grapes are likely already dead. Bah.

Awesome then! Thanks for being patient :D

I was wondering--you have software to make pictures into cross stitch, right? Was it very expensive?
Monday, January 18th, 2010 05:04 pm (UTC)
No, I have no software specifically for it. I was going to use... *looks around* . Like, on my lunch hour, you know. *nods* (Seriously, though, who wants to go anywhere through this slush?!)

Basically, I'll put the picture under a graph, then manually fill in the squares. Luckily, these pictures seem simple enough that it won't be too much of a question about colors - the shading is a simple lighter/darker deal, not really any graduation to it.

Ahh, okay. That would work for simple things, but be a lot of work for anything more complicated.

EE! What fun! That's cool.
Sunday, January 17th, 2010 04:39 pm (UTC)
Thank you! :D

Cool!

Anything elaborate planned for his birthday? I still can't get over the Clue scavenger hunt he did for you.

I'm really quite over winter at this point. Another snow day for T., he's excited now, but will be fuming when they end up going an extra week in June to make up the days!!

You made his day by remembering that, by the way!

The weather is slowly turning, warming a little, but now we have freezing fog, whatever the heck that is (other that spooky, in a Jack-the-Ripper sort of atmosphere... okay, kind cool). Cold and foggy the last few days, but anything above freezing is heavenly right now!

I think schools around here are already a week behind, with the weather. There will be much grumbling later on, that's for sure!

It does look good, and from the look of things, you didn't have to break the (piggy) bank to pay for it ;)
Sunday, January 17th, 2010 04:42 pm (UTC)
Ohh, punnage! ;)

He's actually a lamp (my light for the picture) but even if he were one of my real banks, I'd never break him! I do have a bank that doesn't have a plug-hole at the bottom, you just stick a butter knife in the slot, turn him upside-down and shake!
