I've turned off my automatic payments. The chances of LJ ever getting money from me again are growing even slimmer. I'm not sure this is going to 'blow over', reportedly people are contacting their credit card companies and deny LJ payments for permanent accounts on the basis of fraud. I have a feeling this might get a whole lot worse before it gets better.

With bulls-eye targets, yes. I think they think they are doing the right thing (which makes it sadder) but it's just going to make things much, much worse in the long run.

I heard (um, it was a post by a person who supposedly talked to an LJ staffer on the phone) that old content will be evaluated under the new guidelines. If THAT is true, and certain people (militant groups) go trolling and reporting, it's going to get BAD. Because who remembers what they posted in communities a year ago? Two years ago? Or more? Hell, I can't remember what I wrote last week!

Admittedly, I haven't been paying much attention to Strikethrough II: Electric Boldaloo because I thought it was just about LJ/6A not having learned from its mistakes the first time around. In no way did I imagine they'd be able to surpass that level of sheer stupid. I was clearly very wrong.

I've spoken hypothetically about what I'd do if I got pissed enough to actually leave LJ, but this is the first time I've ever seriously considered it. I'm definitely going to be paying a lot more attention to whatever's happening next.

You know, I hate to say 'there are more important things than crap like this' because I do think the underlying problem is important, but... you know, sometimes certain things have to take a back burner. You do have to take care of you first! You can't be incensed over all the world's problem all the time, or you'd go insane.
