I told myself that there was no way I'd ever pay those inflated on-line prices for a Wii. Sure, if I saw one in the stores, I'd get one, but what was that chance of that happening?

Today, for the first time since I had my first Wii craving, I walked into a Best Buy with no thoughts of even looking for a Wii (on the slim chance they had them) - I was there to buy a new DS game and that was it.

And as I trundled over to get Mystery Case Files: MillionHeir (DS), I was brought up short by a display... of Wiis. At the base $249.99 price. And I had promised myself...

Of course, I wanted a Wii for Wii Fit and to try to get into shape, and we've already joined a gym for that (which is very much more expensive, in the long run, than the Wii, but probably much better exercise, too - I've lost 4 pounds in just over two weeks and I'm still sucking down milkshakes and cramming candy bars in my face. Never underestimate the calorie-burning of swimming!). AND I signed up for the 'health fair' at work to try to win one (I'll laugh if I do now). So, basically, I was kinda over it, or at least resigned, and not looking... and that's when it appeared.

Now, the graphics on the Wii SUCK compared to the XBox (we did buy Lego Star Wars, just to compare (and to have all 4 versions of it that we can use...) - we'll definitely be getting Lego Batman for the XBox). But the little games, the sports things and whatnot? Great for that (I won at bowling, we'll see if we ever play that again!). I can see us getting a lot of use out of it for that. So far the games we have are: the sports games it came with, Lego Star Wars, Carnival Games, and Boom Blox. Any others I just have to have?

I didn't care when I only owned a Wii, but man...it's hard to go back to those graphics now that I've been playing games on the 360.

Anyway, you must be the only person on the planet that they let buy a Wii and not Wii Play. Its claim to fame is that it comes with a remote, which is kinda cool. Boom Blox is supposed to be great, so good choice there. My suggestion would be Super Mario Galaxy. It's far and away the best game on the system.

Addict yourself to the tennis; it won't be difficult, I warn you. :D Just try not to whap Mr Smeddley about the head with the wavy stick thing. My brother and I keep having scary near misses with those things.

They tried... but their big 'selling point' to us was that it has a billiards game, to which we replied, 'no thanks, we have a pool table if we want to play that'. I guess that threw them enough to let us just buy the extra wii-mote.

Does Super Mario Galaxy require reflexes? Because, if so, I'll suck at it. I was never good at the old-school arcade games...

I suck at the tennis. And we've already had some close calls, mostly me getting lashed with the cord between the wii-mote and the nun-chuck during boxing. At least the wii-motes come with huge padded bits around them now!

Wii are not yet connected to the internet, because wii couldn't remember the wireless password to our system. However, when that does happen, I will post our wii number for you.

(Also, we had to spend all weekend cleaning so the couch delivery people didn't see what complete and utter slobs we truly are)

It's a platformer, kind of like the Lego games in that you have to time your jumps and stuff.

It won Game of the Year for 2007! You can't go wrong.
