Left a message at the dentist's office, haven't heard back yet. I think I'm doomed (DOOMED) to wait until Tuesday. It... doesn't really hurt - yet - not like when I had the cracked tooth and the abscess (by far the worst pain in my entire life, I would take an entire spine of herniated disks over that), but it is occasionally uncomfortable. I sincerely hope it stays at that level, but I have my doubts. I think it's already getting a little worse, and it's only been a day. :( It was suggested that if it gets sensitive I get some of the wax used for braces and cover over the exposed area. I also have some special mouthwash and stuff I can use. And I'm tough. *wibble* I just wish I could take a painkiller stronger than ibuprofen.

I'm more bothered by my wrist (again). I don't know what's wrong with it. Basically, it hurts to bend it or touch the back of my wrist. This happens on and off, usually as the result of either extending it, or as was the case this time, gripping something. I squeezed... something, I don't remember what, and I felt a *pop* in my wrist, and now it is sore. I figure I have a good two weeks of discomfort before it settles back down. Great, another excuse not to get anything done on my vacation. I'm beginning to wonder if the universe is just conspiring against me on this vacation. *grump* At least (silver lining silver lining silver lining) it is my left wrist this time.

Man, I feel whiny.

I watched The Mist last night and was pleasantly surprised. I think when I do get around to reviewing it, it will get four stars. I know, surprised me, too! Even though the ending was entirely predictable, I liked it.

My boss's boss evidently won a Kindle at a seminar, and now I can bash it having personally handled one. I never liked the idea (*hugs my books*) but now I can honestly say I don't like using it. It's awkward to hold, and every time you flip a page the screen flashes a negative image of the page before it flips. Really, really, REALLY annoying. Plus, even with the text set small not that much fits on a page, so someone like me who reads rather quickly would be flipping A LOT. The flash, combined with the relatively slow flip time and smaller pages, would really bog down the reading. It also felt flimsy and cheap, and I didn't like the controls. Certainly not worth $400, sorry. I will stick to real books and my beloved library and bookstores.

I've also almost finished my last project before vacation, so then it's just cleaning up and watering plants. 5 1/2 hours, now...

I too rather liked The Mist. But that ending...you could see it coming a mile away. Colum and I both have a habit of predicting the endings of movies, and we're usually right. But it's no fun when it's that easy! Stupid ending...

My Intro to Writing Arts professors made a big deal at the end of the course about how that stupid Kindle thing was going to be the future of reading or somesuch. Personally, I think I'd rather remain firmly stuck in the past.

I hope you can get your tooth fixed before the long weekend, but if not, that it's not too painful before you *can* get it fixed! That wax idea is a good one!

Thanks for reminding me about The Mist - I wanted to see it in the theaters because I remember liking the story when I first read it, a long long time ago.

Beyond the wax, there is temporary cement stuff... check at a Walgreens. I used to have some in the medicine cabinet, though I have no memory of why I bought it.

Yeah, it was pretty obvious, and that kinda sucked. OR maybe it was just obvious to us because we're smart and cynical? Still, I'm glad they went with it, since the only other option would have been awful and even more predictable.

I'll be there with you! I love my books.

Here's hoping it doesn't hurt too much, now that I have such a long wait. I got some temporary filling material, we'll see how that hold up. :/

I got some Temparin stuff - I didn't know that existed! We'll see how long it'll hold.

Yay postcard! I'm glad it made it, being all home-made and stuff.

I read an article about the Kindle a while ago and there was a section that was like "book lovers, here are all the ways the Kindle is just like a real book!" And I was like, "does it fail to make my eyes hurt when I read for a long time? Because that's one of the things I like about books." And it did not answer my question, so I do not want a Kindle.

I got your postcard! Very cool, hehe. My mom liked it too ;) What is that picture on the front?!

Yeah, that e-ink is supposed to be 'just like a book!' but I don't buy it. Nope.

Wasn't yours the picture of the moon? I'm pretty sure that's the one. I had it as my desktop picture for awhile. Also, you did get one of my favorite stories... :)

Pretty sure it's not the moon. At least, it's not just the moon. The moon doesn't usually have blue and green spots...

I think I found it under a link that said 'look at this cool picture of the moon', but beyond that, it could be CGI for all I know. You know how completely unreliable the internet is!
