My inactive Yahoo account was hacked, luckily the bulk of the addresses they were able to harvest were just other spammers sending me things, so.

My password wasn't "password" or on any list of most common, nor was it a real word, and it contained numbers. I did not click on any link (I hadn't even logged in for months). There was, as far as I can tell, nothing short of not having a Yahoo mail account that could have helped.

I can see why they are getting dumped left and right, there's some serious security issues there.

And Yahoo wants me to provide then with *more* personal information to keep my account safe? I think not. As it stands, they don't have my full name or even my correct birthday, and it's going to stay that way. No secondary email that can be corrupted, no phone number, nothing.

Now I have to run around and change all the other passwords that where the same (quite a few, it was a low-level password, but an old favorite). I don't have time for that. Argh.

I've deleted *everything* out of that account, I'll see what rolls in over the next few weeks, then deactivate it. It's not worth the hassle, though I will need another junk email address. Maybe whatever became of hotmail, or... and other suggestions? I could, I suppose, set up a secondary gmail account, but that would be a bother getting into since I'd have to log out of my main one. We'll see...
