It suddenly dawned on me that to fulfill my "50 new recipes tried" goal that drink recipes would count. I've pretty much run through most of the dessert recipes I wanted to try, and when it comes to main dishes and veggies, I tend to just wing it. Hence, not making a lot of headway. But I have an entire book on shot recipes, so in one wild night I could check off up to, what, three new recipes?! (yes, yes, lightweight and all, I detest headaches)

One of the recipes I had down to try when I saw it in a book was "Chatham Artillery Punch". The main problem is... well, see if you can see what it is.

Recipe
8 lemons
1 lb powdered sugar
750mL bottle of bourbon
750mL bottle of cognac
750mL bottle of dark rum
3 bottles of champagne
Nutmeg

I'm... not sure I even have enough friends to polish off that, and it's not like it will keep, the champagne will go flat. And yet, every recipe I see for it has these quantities. So I did some research and math, and came up with a single serving size:

1 1/4 Tbsp lemon juice
1 1/2 Tbsp confectioners sugar
1 oz bourbon
1 oz cognac
1 oz dark rum
3 oz champagne
Nutmeg

And, in order to use up the champagne (and get more check marks), I also found:

Kir Royale
1 oz creme de cassis
5 oz champagne

Death in the Afternoon
2 oz absinthe
4 oz champagne

That should do for one weekend...
