...but work has been busy busy and I've been running in twelve directions and I'm TIRED. So I'm sorry I haven't commented on anything lately, I've been exhausted and... well, that's it, really.

I even skipped my belly dance class last night to have some down time. I NEVER do that. That's how bad it's been.

One thing I have done (which I do periodically) is look up real estate in my area. Especially since the county assessments just came out and... yeah, lost value again. But only $1,500 this time, better than most. I was 'blergh' about it, but then friends told me their houses lost $20,000 and $50,000 in value (granted, they are more expensive houses, but STILL!). It's hard to hold on to any resentment over a measly $1,500 after that. Plus, I have no plans to move, so... lower taxes, maybe? Doubtful, they'll just raise the rates, I'm sure. Especially if the upper brackets are losing value like that.

I long ago stopped looking at the ten million dollar ranch estates with swimming pools in the basement, though, because that's just depressing. I go the opposite way. What houses could I buy with the money currently in my checking account? Yes, they'd be fixer-uppers, sure, and in neighborhoods I probably don't even want to drive through, but... still. Outright buying a piece of property? Whoa.

This time, the cheapest I could find in the Metro area were two $3,500. That's up from a low of $1,200 a few years ago. Then there were a smattering at $5,000 and a huge chunk at $9,900. Then I had a thought... where might I find even cheaper houses? Wrecks, to be sure, but cheaper? And the first place that popped into my head... Detroit.

Where I found this:

And it wasn't even the only one that price. Yes, please, estimate my monthly payment, would you?

EDIT: Ooooh, and I forgot, I just saw this on one I was looking at in a smaller, rural town outside the Metro: "Sold As-Is. Must sign hold harmless before entering property."

KILLER HOUSE! WILL EAT YOU ALIVE! (We, uh, looked at a killer house on our househunt, no lie!)
