Okay, I've reached a decision point, because the only thing I'm supposed to do on Day Three is sign up for the website and e-mails. If you recall, this was something I was against doing, because the volume of e-mails was overwhelming when I did it way back when, and I hear they've gotten even more numerous.

Because so many of the e-mails come out during the day, they basically stack up in your inbox if you're at work. This leads to a cascade of 'do this now!' e-mails the second you walk in the door, which is overwhelming and rather runs contrary to the point of the program (where we're all overwhelmed and the idea is to take it step be step, little by little). And, as one blogger pointed out, the idea that 'you're not behind, just jump in where you are!' doesn't work because then you do nothing with those e-mail tasks and they become completely pointless (except wasting your time deleting them).

But! Of course I peeked ahead and several of the Baby Steps involved the e-mails. So if I don't sign up, I'm not 'doing it right' and those days don't really add anything to my routine. My other option is to combine Baby Steps, condensing the 31 day program down to about a 17 day program. Toddler Steps, if you will. But this then means I will finish the Baby Steps portion of the program before my month is up, and will not have formed a habit yet (28 days).

And, to progress beyond the Baby Steps I see no clean plan of action on the website, other than doing what the e-mails tell you. So I am conflicted as to what constitutes enough of 'giving it an honest try'.

I understand taking it slowly. I get the 'trying to ease you into it'. But at the same time, how long can you expect someone to stick with a program with little but a (perfectly) clean sink?

I don't know what to do here. I do know that if I do sign up for the e-mails, it will be with a throw-away e-mail address (preferably the real address of the bozo who's been signing me up for the Banjo Hangout, Washinton Post, and all sorts of other web sites!). I have the rest of the day to decide. :/

Now and again I'd think back and remember a comedy show I very much liked and watched back in the 80s. The sad part was that the only thing that remained crystal-clear in my memory was the "Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" poster above a stove.

Thankfully, Smittygirl rescued me from years of on-and-off wondering by posting this yesterday. It's long, yes, and in seven parts, but you should watch it. :D

The rest of the parts under the cut! )
