...between a dog that's frightened of the noise and the memory of getting a jumping jack stuck in my hair as a kid, I steer clear. But I do like the 4th of July anyway, because I love my country and the Declaration of Independence was a really big deal and deserves a really big party. Yay, Independence! Plus, you know, a day off work...
So I don't do fireworks, and I don't do parades, so how do I celebrate? Well, last night we belly danced a routine to Neil Diamond's "America". In a restaurant. To live music. In front of people. ...yeah. It was fun, even if we have to ad-lib a lot. :D And no, you don't get to see the video. :P
But you can see the belt I made for the occasion. It's a little cheesy, but it's my first attempt at a fitted belt, and even though it's tacky and glitzy (gotta love plastic bead garland!) I do think it's a good start and I'll be able to use this pattern to make more elegant ones in the future...
