Somewhere, buried in the mile-long and still growing list of things that need to be done is the bullet-point 'clean off jump drives'.

There are five of them rattling around in my purse, various sizes and colors, none of them full. I don't know how or why I've amassed such a collection when one would do just as well, but I've not seemed able (or willing) to spend the time to combine them.

My first jump drive, the curvaceous 128MB Lexar, with its translucent blue casing showing off its circuitry is the most jumbled mix of files. The long-worn off logo and multitude of scratches prove it's an old, but loved, jump drive.

The next is a generic silver Microcenter drive. It has no writing, and I couldn't even tell you if it was 1 Gig or 2. It bears no personality, and without looking I'd be hard-pressed to tell you what is stored on it. But it's sturdy, utilitarian, and it was cheap.

The third is technically a work drive. It's a sleek and sexy black 4GB Sony with a retractable port. It contains files from my work computer, though not all of them are, technically, work files.

The fourth is a tiny little 1 GB blue Lexar Firefly, which I redeemed many MyCoke Reward points to acquire. I believe it houses my icon web pages, for when I was using lunch breaks (and any other free time) to try and get those complete.

The fifth is possibly the most interesting - a 2GB drive I got free from a seminar. It has the seminar slogan on the U-shaped bit of metal the pivots to protect the port. It's the best design, since there's no losing the cap and no retracting mechanism to break. It contains the files it had on it when I got it (seminar-related) and the PDF of the Knitted Sackboy instructions.

The question is - who do I keep if I go down to just one drive? My favorite is also the smallest, but do I need that much room? What if there's a data emergency, and I don't have a spare rattling around? It's stupid, but I just don't want to change the way I have things, even though it's silly to carry them all around. Or maybe I'm just too lazy to mess around with trying to organize them...
