I have started writing postcard stories again (aka weird freewriting on postcards). So:

[Poll #1419470]

Mind, if you say no you might miss out on a crap-tastic story of forbidden love between a wii-mote and an xbox controller. Then again, that might be a good thing. :/ Also, if you want, you can give me a prompt in the comments and you postcard story will hopefully end up at least loosely based on it...

No cable, no internet (thank goodness for my G1!).

I call to report it (once I didn't, for something like 4 hours, only to find no one else had) and after a lengthy hold, got through to a customer rep who told me there was, indeed, a known outage in my area and that they were working on it.

And then...

...then he asks me, while he has me on the phone, if I'd like to hear about their specials that might save me money. I say okay, sure, who wouldn't want to save money? So he starts in on their triple play package - phone, internet, and cable.

I say I'm not interested in their phone, and he tries to tell me how great it is.

I tell him that I like the fact that my phone works during outages, and that I've never had my phone stop working (okay, slight lie, it did die when we pulled apart the DIY phone splice the previous owners left in the backyard, but that hardly counts!).

He told me they have battery back-ups.

Er, dude, I wasn't talking about power outages. I was kinda talking about the outage I'm having right now. You know, the one I wouldn't have been able to call you about (okay, cell phone, but who wants to burn up minutes on hold?!) if I had the service you're trying to sell me.

I'm not sure he every really got it.

Because at 9:30 at night it still feels like a sauna out there. But then I ran across a picture on the random feed that led me to this post over in the [livejournal.com profile] seattle community. I've said for a long time I wanted to move back there because I loved the weather, but now I'm rethinking that.

I just looked at the weather channel, and it's currently 85°F with a heat index of 97°F. Tomorrow we get 98°F with a heat index of 110°F.

Yipppeee.

Is it fall yet?
