An answer to an age-old question

If I was stuck on a desert island and could only take one thing with me...

I've always waffled on this question, once you eliminate the really helpful answers like satalite phones, airplanes, and boats. A knife would have probably been my default answer, because it would be useful. But today the right answer hit me with the intesity of a million pygmy elephants stampeding over my body.
