Seems the library found the DVD set, after they'd *already* checked once. Good thing I didn't trust them the first time. My account now shows a $0.60 fine - though I can probably get that removed if I argue - that's nothing compared to $60. AND I get to keep my 'claims returned' card for another day.

I am a happy camper.

Except that it's only Wednesday, I'm still at work, and my face hurts. I'm trying out a new skin care regime and... well, I'm not sure it's going well. It doesn't seem to be helping my complexion (though it's only been a few days) but it is making my skin quite tender. We'll see. I'll give it a few more days and re-evaluate then.

For those in the KC area, the library is having its Sizzling Summer Booksale at Metro South Mall. $0.50 paperbacks and $1.00 hardbacks, new stuff put out all the time (so it's not like all the 'good stuff' get snatched up right off). I went at lunch and got a few books, but Mr. Smeddley and I are going to head back out there this evening. Word of warning: I don't think there's any air-conditioning, so dress lightly. I almost died in my sweater (and it's not even that hot today) and that's probably what kept me to so few books. But since the 'charge' has been dropped against me, I now can spend that money on books, right? Yeah, yeah, it's still giving the money to the library, but I get something in return and there's no admission of guilt! It's win-win!

On the down side, the Twilight audiobook still hasn't come in! Based on their queue info I should have had it by now. *pout* And I've mentally prepared myself to be all D: and I can't keep that up for long. And I fear that if I'm not properly prepared, the horror will overwhelm me. *nods* Is it possible to choke to death on bad writing or be poisoned by clichés? We might just find out...

A library book sale! Luckily, the damage was... minimal, considering. It was hot and we only stayed long enough to pick up... 42 books (okay, I'd picked up a few of those at lunch, but most were this evening). But hey, only... um, 22 of them are mine, and one is a craft book. So out of all of my resolutions (reducing to-be-read stash, reducing yarn, reducing to-try craft projects, and reducing fabric) the only one I've made any progress... wait, I did buy a *little* bit of fabric, it was a doggie remnant! Still, I think I bought less than I used on the last bag I made, so I've at least broken even there. All the rest... yeah, all worse than before.

The LiveJournal Abuse Department’s Emergency Contact Information "First Post" Program?

What?

I've been trying to fathom a situation where it would be so imperative for LJ to contact me right this moment... and failing. It doesn't help that I just finished watching Cloverfield and have this weird cross-connection between giant monster terrorizing a city and some freakish cyber-emergency. My (tired) brain is trying to mesh the two into one coherent idea and the result is... odd. Little data bits, running for their lives. Fireballs melting wires and resistors being torn from their little soldered footings. OH THE HUMANITY!

(yes, yes, I'm going to sleep now - though the forecast tells me: Windy with scattered strong thunderstorms developing after midnight. Storms may produce large hail and strong winds. Low around 70F. Winds S at 25 to 35 mph. Chance of rain 50%. Which basically says I have a 50% chance of getting a solid 30 minutes of sleep, no more. Ergh)
