First of all, I'm quite disappointed in the lack of participation in rounds 4 and 5 of Snerfflebarglast (especially 4). Those were supposed to be the easy rounds! Creativity only! Looks like I'll have to re-think my strategy. Would posting some of the prizes help with incentive?

Not being busy (quite the opposite) is indeed a fair bit worse than being swamped. I hate the post-project letdown. Sure, I still have things I could be doing, like learning the new software, but it's just not that... interesting. And I don't feel like filing and cleaning, the other two things that need to be done. What I want is to get started on next year's project (I'll learn the new software that way, I can't just 'play' with it, I need to have something I need to do), but we don't have the survey yet. Poo.

And I really can't just keep surfing the net. Partly because most of the interesting stuff is blocked. Partly because I know I should be using my time to actually do something. And mostly because it just ends up depressing me. The news is depressing. The amount of stupidity displayed by people is depressing. Especially the Amazon forums.

There is one beacon of entertainment at Amazon, and that's the #1 reviewer kerfluffle. I guess it just proves that quantity over quality will get you to the top (not that I have quality, I have less than a 50% 'helpful' rating!). Everyone knows she's not reading the books, even a speed-reader can't do that. Plus all she ever does is re-state the book blurb. How much time and energy must she put in to this?! Even tweaking the official reviews has to take time - for instance, by 8 am this morning she'd posted 117 reviews. Simply the act of finding the books, copy, paste, and post takes time! I'm amazed at people in general... I'm not sure I'm more amazed at her, or at the fact that every one of those 117 reviews already had a 'no' vote!

Okay, off to do a little work... I can at least try to clean off the top of my desk. Maybe that will make me feel more motivated.
