I hate Daylight Savings Time. Not only do you steal an hour from me in the spring, I have to spend quite a bit of time resetting all the clocks in the house. Ergh. What a pain. Especially the wall clocks, since after you reset them you have to get them back on their hooks, which requires that 'squeezing your head against the wall in a vain attempt to try to see behind it' maneuver. So very dignified.
I'm still 7 on the hold list for Lost, the complete third season. It'd better show up fast, I'm running out of room on my DVR and I don't want to have to delete Psych or Eureka until it comes out on DVD. Just in case I want to re-watch them! :D You never know... Oh, that reminds me, I think Hogfather is out on DVD, that'd free up some space!
Speaking of buying things (though I'll be buying from Barnes&Noble.com!) I'm almost into the top 100,000 reviewers at Amazon! I'm not very good, though, I get a lot of 'unhelpful' votes - mostly when I dislike a book. I'm not sure I should take that personally, as in I have nothing worthwhile to say, or if it's more that I'm offending people because they liked the book. *shrug* I don't really care, I'm not in it for the rankings... but that does bring me to a fun subject - the #1 reviewer on Amazon.
Oh, that's right. There is reviewer wank. If you pull up Harriet Klausner's profile, and start reading the comments on her 'reviews' (because they're not that, they're a somewhat-summary of the book - often inaccurate - with a pulpy, feel-good blurb tacked onto the end. Plus she gives everything 4 and 5 stars) you'll find a lot of pretty good conversation. That's how I found The Harriet Klausner Appreciation Society. That has a lot of really good links, and is an amusing read.
Basically, this gal says (in a Time article) that she reads up to 6 books a day. Six book covers, I will buy. Especially since so many people point out how very wrong she gets a lot of the plots!
It's funny how seriously people take these things. I do tend to post in chunks of 8-10 books at a time - but nowhere near HK's post on March 6th of 117 reviews! I've also though about reviewing things other than books - I could be one of the freaky reviewers that posts reviews about band-aids and milk... :D
I need more sleep. But I might be going shopping (yay, shopping!) with a friend today, so I'd better do any housecleaning I need to get done soon. *snort* As if. No, I need to go finish Death Du Jour for the book club tomorrow. It's the series that inspired the TV show Bones, and that's the only bad thing about it. I'm really enjoying the book, but my head can't keep pointing out all the things that are different about the characters in the TV show. Boo.
