In the interests of finishing at least one of my 101 things, I've been trying new recipes. After a discussion with [livejournal.com profile] oneworldvision in which Ramen noodles were brought up (I mentioned I like to add soy sauce, vinegar, and hot sauce - you can, on top of that add raw egg (stir as you drop it in to cook it) and sliced, cooked mushrooms (yeah, canned are easiest!), either way it's a very oriental-style soup) I checked out the book Everybody Loves Ramen. Now, most of the recipes are far more involved than my 'add a little spice to the soup' one. I would think a book like this should be more... shoe-string budget, college-microwave friendly. But it's not, and if you're going to take the time and effort to make a lot of these recipes you probably have higher-quality noodles. Unless you just like the taste of Ramen, and that's fine! My Aunt likes Ramen Spaghetti, which is cooked, drained noodles with a can of Ragu dumped over the top. Completely microwavable and pretty cheap. I, on the other hand, make my spaghetti sauce from scratch... ;)

Anyway, one of the recipes that didn't look too bad was the Ramen Pizza. Why I thought it would work is beyond me, but there you have it. The theory is (I'm too lazy to scan in the recipe right now, sorry, but if anyone wants it I will - also, [livejournal.com profile] anam_cara, I have not forgotten and will get that coconut rice pudding recipe to you tomorrow) that you cook the noodles, then mix them with egg and Parmesan cheese. You spread this mixture over an aluminum-covered pizza pan. Then you top it with a jar of spaghetti sauce, cooked ground beef, mushrooms, and onions, and mozzarella cheese. I also added hot peppers. Then you bake it. And, in theory, you get a pizza-like thing.

This is what happened:

Cut to spare your f-list and your sensibilities. Vegetarians on my list, beware, this recipe did call for hamburger and, yes, I used it. )
