There are 3-1/2 odd hours left in 2007 here, and though I doubt I'll do anything to mark the passage into the new year (no firecrackers or screaming or anything like that, and hopefully the cold will keep the rest of the neighborhood inside!) I thought I'd go ahead and write up a list of resolutions. So here it is. In 2008, I resolve to...

* Not die (though if I fail at this one, the rest are probably moot)
* Not kill anyone (Intentionally, that is, unless they were going to kill me first. Then I have every right)
* Not screw up the dates on any of my checks (much harder done than said)

That about covers it. Good luck to me!

2007 meme stolen from just about everyone:

1. What did you do in 2007 that you'd never done before?
Demolished a basement.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I don't normally make them, but I have just now, and hopefully will.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
A friend did, but why does this really have anything to do with me?

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Not that I know of, so I'll take that to be a no. Since if I didn't know, we weren't that close.

5. What countries did you visit?
Insanity, Denial, the usual.

6. What would you like to have in 2008 that you lacked in 2007?
Money. Lots and lots of money. I've always wanted money. To handle. To touch. The smell of the rain-washed florin. The lure of the lira. The glitter and the glory of the guinea. The romance of the rouble. The feel of the franc, the heel of the Deutschmark. The cold antiseptic sting of the Swiss franc, and the sunburnt splendor of the Australian dollar.

7. What date from 2007 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?
You're lucky I know what today is, let alone being able to put dates to things that happened last year. I can't even remember my anniversary, for goodness sakes! So i guess that would be a 'none'.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?
Demolishing a basement.

9. What was your biggest failure?
I don't like to think of things as 'failures', but as 'learning experiences'. :P

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?
Nothing serious.

11. What was the best thing you bought?
A basement.

12. Where did most of your money go?
The basement (hey, do you see a theme here?).

13. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
Not a whole lot.

14. What song will always remind you of 2007?
Is there a song about demolishing and renovating a basement?

15. Compared to this time last year, are you:

Happier or sadder?
About the same.
Older or wiser?
Older.
Thinner or fatter?
Let's not go there.
Richer or poorer?
I have more money, but I owe more money. So about the same, I guess.

16. What do you wish you'd done more of?
Crafting.

17. What do you wish you'd done less of?
Working.

18. How will you be spending Christmas?
At home.

19. Did you fall in love in 2007?
Yes, all over again (*flutters eyelashes*). No, really, these are the questions that make me feel old...

20. What was your favorite TV program?
Hrm. Psych, How I Met Your Mother, Mythbusters, Top Gear, and Eureka.

21. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No, I pretty much hate the same people.

22. What was the best book you read?
Uh... I don't know. I read so many! I'd have to think about it, and frankly, the meme isn't worth that kind of brain power.

23. What was your greatest musical discovery?
Sorry, I missed the memo for that quest.

24. What did you want and get?
A non-leaky basement.

25. What did you want and not get?
How long do you have? Loads of things, really. Some important, some not. But lots of them.

26. What was your favorite film of this year?
Again, not worth mulling over for the one person that might have actually read this far...

27. What did you do on your birthday, and how old were you?
Uh, I assume I opened presents, and probably worked, but other than that I have no real memories of it.

28. What one thing would have made your year immeasurably more satisfying?
Not having a leaky basement.

29. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2007?
Comfortable.

30. What kept you sane?
Who says I am?

31. Which celebrity/public figure did you fancy the most?
The Rock. *drool*

32. What political issue stirred you the most?
None. I think it's a case of the lesser of the weavils in that arena.

33. Who did you miss?
No one, and if I did, I'd back up and try again! *rimshot*

34. Who was the best new person you met?
I don't remember if I met anyone new. A lot of LJ people, I suppose...

35. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2007:
Basements suck.

36. Quote a song lyric that sums up your year:
"Rain, rain, go away, come again another day. All the world is waiting for the sun." [which is odd, because normally I love the rain, but not when - you guessed it - it's pouring into my basement]

heh, I like your answer to #6. and #35. :P

I do love Monty Python!

And basements do suck. The concept is fundamentally flawed, but people persist in thinking they can thwart the forces of nature. Then again, I wouldn't dream of living in Kansas without a basement, so it's a damned if you do, damned if you don't kinda thing.

ohhh that whole death thing....but my sister's soon to be exhusband did demolish his car the other night. sad because it was a collector's item new Mangusta. Mint condition he rammed into the cliff, teetered upside down on the edge and made it out unscathed. He's a bit unstable these days but at least he's alive and unhurt. phew!

my sister out of pity is spending NYE with him. and her dog.

poor whiskey he's very attached to tess. he's part chow.

I like how most people's most-repeated answer is their boy/girlfriend... but you have basement.

I agree with #31. :)

Wow. It's amazing what some people can walk away from, and what little things seem to kill others. Glad he was okay, too bad about the car!

Well, you know, 14 years with the same person tends to dull the glitz. Sometimes I do kinda take him for granted, though... Except when we were demolishing the basement - I appreciated every sledgehammer swing and trip out to the dumpster then!

He was just on an episode of a Disney show I refuse to name and thereby admit that I occasionally watch and he was so *cute*. Sweet, tough, and hot - what more can you ask for in a fantasy guy?!
